Terms of Service

Last updated: June 21, 2026

These terms govern your use of Scitero.com. By using this site, you agree to them. Please read the disclaimer in Section 4 carefully, especially if you use the lab calculators for real research work.

1. What Scitero provides

Scitero provides free online tools for researchers, students, and professionals, including PDF utilities, lab calculators, AI-assisted writing tools, and career document generators. Tools are provided "as is" for general convenience.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Scitero to upload or generate unlawful, infringing, or harmful content; to attempt to access another user's account or data; to overload, scrape, or attack the service; or to misrepresent AI-generated content as your own original work in contexts where that would violate academic integrity policies at your institution. You are responsible for complying with your university's or employer's policies on AI tool use in coursework, publications, and applications.

3. Accounts

Creating an account is optional and only required for certain personalized features. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You may request account deletion at any time.

4. Accuracy disclaimer — please read

The lab calculators, unit converters, and AI-generated content on Scitero are intended as convenience aids, not as a substitute for your own scientific judgment or institutional protocols. Always verify calculator outputs and AI-generated text independently before relying on them for experiments, lab work, coursework, applications, or publication. We are not liable for errors, omissions, or any consequences arising from reliance on results produced by Scitero's tools.

5. Third-party AI processing

AI-powered tools send your input to a third-party AI provider to generate output, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not control how that provider's underlying model arrives at a given response and cannot guarantee the accuracy, originality, or appropriateness of AI-generated output for your specific purpose.

5b. Writing Originality Check — limitation of scope

The Writing Originality Check tool analyses your text for internal writing consistency (style shifts, register changes, internal repetition, and uncited formal passages). It is not a plagiarism detection service and does not compare your text against any external database of published papers, theses, web pages, or student submissions. A clean result from this tool does not constitute confirmation that your work is free of plagiarism. You are responsible for running your work through your institution's official plagiarism screening tool (such as Turnitin or iThenticate) before formal submission. Scitero makes no warranty, express or implied, regarding the completeness or accuracy of originality analysis produced by this tool.

6. Intellectual property

The Scitero name, design, and underlying code belong to Scitero. Content you input into our tools remains yours; we claim no ownership over text, files, or data you provide.

7. Service availability

Scitero is provided free of charge and "as available." We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any tool or feature at any time without prior notice, though we will try to give notice for significant changes where practical.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scitero and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on its tools.
