⚖️ Concentration Converter

Convert between mg/mL, μg/mL, ng/mL, molarity (mol/L), mmol/L and % w/v. Click any result to copy it.

g/mol
Not needed if converting between mass/volume units only (e.g. mg/mL ↔ μg/mL ↔ % w/v)
💡 Note: Converting between mass-based units (mg/mL, μg/mL, % w/v) does not require molecular weight. Converting to/from molar units (mol/L, mmol/L) requires the molecular weight of your compound.
⚠️ Verify before use: Double-check critical concentration conversions independently before use in experiments, especially when molecular weight is involved.
📖 Example: Converting 5 mg/mL BSA (MW 66,430 g/mol) to µmol/L: enter 5 mg/mL, MW = 66,430 → result = 75.3 µmol/L. Useful when a protocol specifies molar concentration but your stock is weighed gravimetrically.

Converting concentration units in pharmaceutical and biological labs

Concentration unit conversion is required when protocols from different sources use different systems. To convert mg/mL to mol/L: divide by MW (g/mol) and multiply by 1000. To convert mol/L to µmol/L: multiply by 10⁶. % w/v = g per 100 mL = 10 mg/mL. Note that % v/v (e.g. 70% ethanol) is not the same as % w/v — ethanol volumes do not add linearly to water. Always state the molecular weight used for molar conversions in your methods section.
